Our groups are working hard to plan for facility-wide observances of this important month.  We want to spread the news that abuse is not "normal" and that there is hope and healing, but we need your help.  Consider these statistics for members of the general population:

• 1 in 4 women in the United States will experience family violence in her lifetime.
• 1 in 6 women in the United States has or will experience rape in her lifetime.
• 74% of Americans personally know someone who has been impacted by family violence.

• 99% have experienced abuse at some point in her life according to one research study
• 44% have experienced attempted and/or completed rape
• More than 90% believe that abuse is "normal"

Who do you know who has experienced family violence?
 

65% of incarcerated women have minor children, which means that approximately 1.3 million minor children have a mother who is under criminal justice supervision.
