Non-profit status achieved!
My Sisters, Inc. is a tax-exempt organization as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are registered as a charitable organization in the state of Illinois and we depend on the generosity of our donor base for operating expenses; we do not have a product line to generate income. Volunteers who participate in our training and implement services to survivors in their area correctional facilities typically do not have large amounts of disposable income or companies who can absorb the cost for them. Consequently, we will offer training and materials at cost.
Our pledge to those who donate is:
-
We will never take your gift, be it great or small, for granted.
-
We will remember that your gift is given in faith that we will use it carefully.
-
We will seek to operate as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
-
We are committed to living within our budget and avoiding debt.
-
We are committed to keeping our overhead expenses as minimal as possible so that a greater percentage of each donor dollar can go towards providing services to survivors.
-
We are committed to salaries for staff that are reasonable and fair rather than exorbitant or self-serving.
-
We will always remember that your gift is intended to provide services to incarcerated survivors, not to build a mammoth organization. This fact will guide our budget initiatives and priorities.
-
We will guard your privacy and pledge to never share your contact information with another agency or to sell our mailing lists.
-
We will abide by the Donor Bill of Rights.
