Volunteers are the backbone of our organization! With the tremendous growth in the female inmate population and the budget shortfall that most government entities are experiencing, the contributions of volunteers serving within correctional facilities is becoming more essential. Services that once may have been provided by facilities are being curtailed so it is a critical time and presents a unique opportunity for our volunteers to meet these critical needs.
We recognize that volunteers usually have limited resources and finances but unlimited compassion and love for those they serve. Consequently, we are committed to providing training, curriculum and support to volunteers at a very minimal cost. And, we have designed our comprehensive training to incorporate an on-line learning modality as well as face-to-face time. Volunteers can complete a large portion of our training by devoting approximately five hours per week for seven weeks to complete each on-line module and then attending our regional weekend training event.
After completing the required training, our staff is available to help the volunteer work through the challenges of getting the program established in their local correctional facility. Our commitment to the volunteer does not end when they complete the training. We are committed for the long haul and to providing on-going enrichment and continued education training.
