My Sisters, Inc. affirms these core values that will set the standard for how we operate as an organization and how we treat those whom we serve:
-
Equality: Believing we are all equal members of the human family and believing one person is not better than or more important than another. We will seek to minimize hierarchies and power differentials within our agency and in the services we provide to survivors.
-
Empowerment: Believing that individuals thrive when they are empowered to take responsibility for their own healing and recovery we will seek to empower through every interaction.
-
Empathy: Recognizing that family violence and crime are common in today’s society, we will offer compassion rather than judgment and empathy rather than blame.
-
Education: Believing that education is power, we will develop educational programs that provide survivors with the tools they need to find relationship healing and psychological well-being.
-
Excellence: Believing that survivors deserve the best we have to offer, we will strive for excellence in all that we do.
-
Ethical: Recognizing our responsibility to adhere to all ethical standards of helping, our foremost concern will be to insure that all our services meet the highest ethical standards and provide a safe environment for our survivors. We will remember that we serve as invited guests in correctional facilities and as such will abide by all institutional policies.
-
Eclectic: Recognizing that spirituality plays an essential part in any healing or recovery process, we will seek to be faith-friendly but not religion-specific. We will respect the spiritual beliefs of the survivors we serve.
