"Although the world is full of suffering, the world is also full of the overcoming of it."  Helen Keller

Volunteers with My Sisters, Inc. have the privilege of going where few are willing to go and offering compassionate service to individuals many in society would like to forget.  The contributions that our volunteers make to individual lives is incalculable and the impact immeasurable.  But the personal benefit the volunteer realizes is without parallel.  It is by giving that we receive; by offering healing to another that we find healing for ourselves and by investing in others that we reap huge personal reward.  Volunteering is the country's best kept secret for good mental health.  Want to get involved?

Our training for volunteers is comprehensive because we believe that our clients deserve facilitators who are adequately prepared.  The training includes 12 modules designed to give a solid overview of the dynamics of family violence as well as instruction on how to facilitate groups and issues specific to correctional facilities.  Seven of the twelve modules are available on-line the concluding five are offered in regional face-to-face training sessions scheduled over a weekend.

Interested?  Contact us today about our training schedule and application procedures.

After volunteers are fully trained, our staff will continue to offer assistance in getting the program established in a facility in the volunteer's community.  My Sisters, Inc. is also committed to continued education for our volunteers and offers on-going support and training opportunities.  We are committed to keeping training costs at a minimum because we believe that an individual's gift of time is the greatest gift.  The training cost includes the full curriculum developed by My Sisters, Inc. for use in a correctional setting.

We are focusing on a "personal dedication to a cause greater than ourselves." Victor Frankl
